Obituary of Murray I. Brauman

BRAUMAN--Murray I., died peacefully in the early morning November 5, 2015. He was 85 years old. Born in Brooklyn in 1929 to Mitchell Brauman and Jean Brauman (nee Steinberg), Murray grew up in Lakewood, New Jersey. He attended Rutgers University and graduated in 1951. Upon graduation he entered the US Army, and attended Officer Candidate School: Artillery in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, graduating in 1952. He served as a Lieutenant in Korea from 1952 to 1954. On returning to the US, he began what was to be a lifetime career in advertising, working first on Madison Avenue in Kudner Agency and D'Arcy Advertising, as a principal in Moss & Company and later Earl, Palmer, Brown. He was especially proud of the campaigns he and his team created for Brooklyn Union Gas and Gage & Tollner Restaurant. A Larchmont, NY resident from 1967 to 2014, Murray served on the Boards of the Brooklyn Bureau, Enterprise Works, and the Girl Scouts of Westchester. An avid golfer and traveler, Murray played into his eighties. Murray was a devoted father and grandfather and as a Mets fan, shared a love of baseball with his grandchildren, Rosie and Sam, both Yankees fans. Murray Brauman is survived by his devoted wife Vivienne Brauman, by his adoring daughters Amanda Brauman King and Leslie Brauman, by his grandchildren Rosemary Vasen and Sam Vasen, and by his dear sister Sandra Brauman and niece Jennifer Bennett.
