Obituary of Fay Grad

FAY GRAD, 91, of Co-op City The Bronx, died Sept. 14 following complications from a series of strokes. Fay was predeceased by Zoltan, her husband of 58 years who was a longtime editor of the Hungarian weekly Magyar Szo, and her elder son, Robert, a computer systems programmer. She is survived by her son Peter, an editor at The Record (New Jersey). Fay was an executive secretary for John Barnes at the flagship Barnes and Noble store on 18th Street and Fifth Avenue and an administrative assistant to Drs. John Robbins and Alex Novikoff at Jacobi Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine for more than 20 years. She was a passionate advocate for peace, for racial justice and for workers' rights. She was an extraordinarily loving and devoted wife and the world's greatest mom.Fay's family invites anyone who would like to come to meet at Fox Funeral Home Thursday morning from 10:30 am until 11:30 am for an informal gathering where you can share your thoughts and memories of Fay, or just sit back and listen or chat. All are welcome. After the visitation at Fox Funeral Home the family will be having a luncheon at 11:30 am at Chat 19 American Grill 19 Chatsworth Ave. Larchmont, NY 10538. The restaurant is around the corner from the funeral home After lunch the family will be going to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery 80 Commerce St, Hawthorne, NY 10532 to inter Fay's ashes at 1:30 pm. Friends are welcome to come but please don't feel obligated.
