Obituary of John F. Carnevali MD

John F. Carnevali, MD, Bonita Springs, FL Dr. John F. Carnevali passed away peacefully on January 11, 2012. Formerly of White Plains, NY, he had been a Florida resident since 1993. John was born October 13, 1928 the son of John J. Carnevali and Catherine A. Dolci. He graduated from Georgetown Medical School in 1953, receiving a Doctorate of Medicine Cum Laude. He was awarded the "Georgetown Gold Medal for Excellence in Surgery." His internship ended in 1954 and he started his fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. His fellowship was interrupted when he was called to active duty into the Air Force, commissioned as a Captain. After two years he returned to the Mayo Clinic to continue his fellowship. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery and inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1965. He served on the staff of White Plains Hospital in Westchester County, New York and was elected Director of Surgery from 1973 to 1981. John additionally served as Director of Surgery at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY from 1982 to 1985. John was an active member of Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY; Bonita Bay Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fl. and the DeBruce Fishing Club in NY. He and his former wife Catherine (deceased) had four children : Catherine Cherubini of Hobe Sound, FL., Karyn Marks of Los Angeles, CA, John Carnevali Jr. of Pine Bush, NY and Thomas Carnevali of Lawrenceville, NJ. John will be missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn (nee Rodney). Carolyn has two children by a former marriage: J. Michael Rodney of Larchmont, NY and Janice Gierer of Mt. Sinai, NY whom he raised as his own. John had 7 grand children and 2 great grand children and is survived by his brother, Santi Carnevali and his sister, Carol Anne Sibilia. A memorial service will be held at St. Bernards at a time and date to be anounced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the The Thomas J.
