Obituary of Claire Hughes Reilly Walcovy
Claire Hughes Reilly Walcovy of Larchmont, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Claire was born on January 30th, 1931 in Cambridge, MA to Edward and Florence Hughes.
She grew up in Cambridge and later resided in Belmont, MA. Claire was one of twelve siblings. A person with tremendous energy, she was the first daughter of her family to pursue a higher education and was a graduate of Framingham State Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher and taught in the public school systems in Norwalk, CT and Cherry Point, NC and later at Holy Rosary School, Port Chester, NY.
During her college years, she meet and later married Charles J. Reilly of Brooklyn, NY and College of the Holy Cross, together they raised six children.
She was a parishioner of Sts. John & Paul Parish, Larchmont, NY. Claire was an active tennis and platform tennis player at Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck, NY for over fifty years.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles J. Reilly and second husband, Robert O. Walcovy and her son, Timothy E. Reilly along with her siblings, Rita, Edward, William, John, Paul, Florence, Mary, Margaret, Joseph, and Thomas.
She is survived by her sister Agnes and her children, Charles (Monique), Kathleen, Erin (Chip), Brendan (Amy) and Maureen, seven grandchildren and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Claire led an extraordinary life. She will be remembered as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend, and difference maker. She will be missed.
