Obituary of Gloria H. Gaffney

Gloria Havender Gaffney a longtime resident of New Rochelle passed away on February 9, 2015. Born in the Bronx to Lester and Helen Havender. The Havender family owned and operated the Havender Monumental Works on Jerome Ave, where she engraved monuments. Gloria received her bachelors degree from Fordham University and a Masters from Colombia University. She married James Gaffney in 1956 and settled in New Rochelle. She was an Artist and an avid gardener and loved all animals. A natural environmentalist before it was fashionable. She is survived by her husband James, her son Lester and grandson Ryan. She was pre deceased by her son Richard in 1968. She is also survived by her canine companion Teddy who will miss her dearly. Visiting Wednesday (today) 2-6 Pm at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. Funeral gathering Thursday 10 am at the funeral home. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery to follow.
