Obituary of Martha P. Whoriskey

Martha P. Whoriskey, longtime resident of Larchmont, NY, died January 3, 2012 at Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle, NY. Martha was born on April 26, 1936 in Waltham, Massachusetts to John J. Poutas, M.D. and Mary Whalen Poutas. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1953 and Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College in 1957. She then moved to New York City where she worked for the New York Times Company. In 1965, Martha met Robert D. Whoriskey on a blind date. They were married on April 16, 1966 at the Church of Our Savior in New York City. Bob survives her, as do her three children and six grandchildren: Alexandra Whoriskey, M.D. (James Love) of Mamaroneck, NY and their children Emily and Meghan; Robert Jonathan Whoriskey (Deanna) of Coral Springs, FL and their children Shawn and Rebecca; and Eliza Whoriskey O'Neill (Colin) of New Rochelle, NY and their children Eliza Tate and Clara. Martha is also survived by a brother and two sisters: David Poutasse, M.D. (Margaret) of Pittsfield, MA; Mary Ellen Caruso (Sal) of Lyme, CT; and Mimi Kepner (John) of Gwynedd Valley, PA. Visitation Friday, January 6 from 3-4 and 7-9 PM at John J. Fox Funeral Home (www.jjffh.com), Boston Post Rd. Larchmont. Funeral Mass Saturday, January 7 at St. Augustine's Church in Larchmont. Internment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
