Location Services are private Address 2080 Boston Post Road NY Service Extra Info Henry (Hannock) Blaustein, son of Miriam and Benjamin, passed away on November 24, 2014 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY, after a courageous fight with aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer. He was born in Poland in January 1943 and survived the holocaust with his mother. After the war, the family moved to Germany, and after the state of Israel was formed, they immigrated to Israel. He graduated from the Israeli Naval Academy in Acre, near Haifa, served in the Israeli Navy, and joined ZIM, the Israeli shipping company. He moved to the United States in the late 1970s to head ZIM’s New York office and subsequently held senior positions at Zodiac Maritime and OMI Corporation, among other shipping companies. In the 1980s, he formed a successful maritime consultancy company in Houston, Texas, in which he remained active until his passing. In over 50 years of working in the maritime industry, he managed thousands of projects and assignments in the United States, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and many other locations. Respected for his utmost integrity, commitment and brilliance, and recognized as one of the world’s foremost operational, technical and marine engineers, he was a strong ally and a formidable foe; the one to send when all others have failed. He was a student of history, politics and economics, among many other fields. He affected many lives and will be sorely missed. Henry is survived by his son, Benjamin Blaustein, daughter-in-law, Ayelet Sella Blaustein, and his grandchildren, Mai, Galle and Ron Blaustein; sister, Lea Belostoky, and brother-in-law, Dennis Belostoky; niece, Dana Halpert, and nephew Guy Belostoky. Donations may be made in his memory to the Calvary Hospital Fund, Bronx, New York and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Memorial services are private.
