Obituary of Francis Baily Coughlan
Francis Baily Coughlan of Apalachicola, FL, died peacefully on August 8, 2014 after courageously battling cancer for over 7 years. He was 56 years old.
Frank was born April 25, 1958 in New York City and grew up in Larchmont, NY. After attending Fordham Prep, Frank graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1989, where he was awarded the Wine Medal for his graduating class. He spent many years opening and managing restaurants in NYC, Atlanta, New Mexico, and most recently Apalachicola, FL. A nature and animal lover, Frank enjoyed hiking and taking his dogs to the beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila (Brendle) and his parents Francis Pierce, Jr. and Joan (Baily) Coughlan. Frank is survived by his sister Ellen (Douglas) Neil of Fairfield, CT, sister Grace (John) Connell of Westport, CT, brother Paul (Elizabeth) Coughlan of Norwalk, CT, and Sheila's children and grandchildren. He is the proud uncle of Grace, Catherine, and Hugh Connell.
Donations may be made in Frank's name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.
Friends are invited to call at John J. Fox Funeral Home, Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY, on Friday, August 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16 at 10 am at Sts. John and Paul Church in Larchmont. Interment will be private.
