Obituary of Patrick Breslin Kelleher
Patrick Breslin Kelleher, 79, of Chestnut Hill, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12th, 2014 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Born in New York City, NY to James and Lillian Kelleher.
Patrick grew up in Scarsdale, NY. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY in 1953 . After high school he attended Catholic University in Washington DC where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor degree in civil engineering in 1957. It was while attending Catholic University that he met the love of his life, Anne Louise Willey.
Patrick married Anne in 1959. They were happily married for 54 years.
Patrick had a life-long career in New York as a civil engineer while raising five children in Larchmont, NY., which he called home until retirement, when he and his wife Anne moved Cape Cod. Patrick was a passionate man who enjoyed his Irish heritage. He was a life time member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, New York City chapter. He was also a member of The MOLES, a national organization composed of individuals now or formerly engaged in the construction of tunnel, subway, sewer, foundation, marine, sub-aqueous or other heavy construction projects.
When he relocated to Cape Cod, he became an active member in The Nauset New Comers Club and continued his love for gardening by becoming a certified Master Gardener, where he spent countless hours sharing this passion by volunteering his talent throughout the community. He also volunteered with the Lower Cape Outreach Council and Sight Loss Services of Cape and Islands.
Patrick is survived by his wife Anne.. He is also survived by his brother Henry and sister's Eileen and Mary. He is predeceased by his brother James. Patrick was extremely loving and proud of his five children, Terrie Kelleher of White Plains New York; Patty Burke and her husband John of Cos Cob, CT; Reenie Kelleher of Lexington, MA; Kevin Kelleher and his wife Barbie of Lumberton, NJ; and Brian Kelleher and his wife Lucy of Birmingham AL. In addition he is survived by 4 grandchildren, James and Savannah Cassidy, and Brian and Caitlin Kelleher.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16th, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Fox Funeral Home, in Larchmont NY. Mass Friday 10:00 AM at Sts. John & Paul Church, Inc. Interment will fallow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY. Memorial donations may be made in Patrick's name to Sight Loss Services, Inc. PO Box 414 West Dennis, Ma. 02670.
