Patrick was my classmate at Columbia and we often were on case study teams together
We entered in '89 and graduated in the class of '91. I was his waterboy when he ran the '90 marathon with Wolfgang Huber, M.D another classmate.. He came to my 40th birthday party but we eventually lost touch. For some reason, I decided to google his name and learned the sad information. My condolences to the family.

Recently visited DC and had breakfast with Otto Hentz, SJ...his reflection on Pat was so on target....
No one ever met the guy and didn't love him!
Pat was an "original" who lit up a room whenever he entered it... In his younger years always outrageously, but always for fun and to make everyone feel comfortable.
He is certainly with the angels now.

Pat, I want you to know that we never will forget your best days and how you left them behind to find even better ones with your wife Rebecca and your boys (who you spared meeting most of us). You were and always will be a true legend. I spoke to Matt Ryan in KC, who you lived with as a Junior in Copley, and to John Scott in Broward County, FL, today, and while we are spread across the country and could not get there to NY in time to say good bye in person, we went over story after story, quote after quote, impression after impression, and how you were so special to all of us so often. See ya buddy. Godspeed. Go Hoya! Doug

I knew Patrick Sheehan mostly through his family. Each of his three sons were important members of the annual musical productions at Chatsworth Elementary School when they were fifth graders. Even his dog auditioned for a role! His wife, Rebecca, was a key member of our costume team for all three shows. Clearly Patrick set a wonderful example of being a caring member of the community and his memory will live on through the contributions of his sons to their communities wherever they live in the future.

To The Sheehan Family,
I am a captain with the Fire Department here in Larchmont. Over the past 2 or so years, I have had the pleasure of meeting George. I have developed a close friendship with him and watch him grow as a firefighter and a person.
The fine young man that I can call a friend, is directly influenced by the guidance of his father. I did not know Patrick, but from what I sm hearing about him, I believed all of his admirable attributes as a person will be carried on through his boys. His kind acts and positive influence on the world will undoubtedly continue on.
On behalf of the Village of Larchmont Fire Dept., I offer my deepest condolences for your loss.
The dept. is here in your time of need for anything that need.

Janice Kulovitz, Holly Houston's Mom posted a condolence
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
Pat was a mentor to my daughter, Holly Houston, while she was at Citigroup in NYC. During the three years she was there, he became a close friend, confidant, and eventual mentor to her. That relationship continued after Holly left five years ago to move to D.C. Holly and Pat had a lot of conversations about life, and he was a constant source of encouragement and support to her as a friend and colleague. I was able to meet Pat on a trip to visit Holly at Citi. Pat arranged his hectic schedule to have lunch we us. I remember noticing what an engaging person Pat was and immediately understood why Holly often turned to Pat for advice and just to gain wisdom from this exceptional man.
Pat would often ask me questions about Chattanooga from a historical, military perpective. He and I liked to email about our travels and I would ask Pat where the best beach was to plan a trip after April 15 as a celebration of tax season being completed. I remember planning a trip to St. John and selecting the place to stay based solely on his advice. I am not sure how he had time to share with me given his hectic and unforgiving schedule.
I am sure Holly would agree that Pat is one of the most influential male figures in her lifetime. In addition, I imagine that Holly would credit Pat with helping her to make solid decisions in life for which she will be forever grateful. Above all, Holly and I will never forget this man who will never be replaced and whose love ,concern, and zest for life will linger in our hearts.
With my deepest sympathy,
Janice Kulovitz

Although this is intended to be a place for me to post a few words of my own, I simply have none today. Instead I will borrow the words of author John Wayland…words I am somehow quite sure my friend Pat knew. “The true gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.”

We always had such great conversations about music, politics, Whole Foods, kids today, etc. Pat was always excited about ideas and loved to joke around. A Thanksgiving around a tiny table at our grandmother's very hot and small apartment, Patrick was engaged in a serious conversation with Nan-Nan (grandmother) and the rest of us kids were looking and feeling overheated, restless and bored. Patrick instinctively grabbed a nearby toy of Felix the Cat from a side table and as he spoke to Nan-Nan, somehow with one hand made the toy's arms gesture in perfect synch with what he was saying and the whole room's mood lightened as we all started laughing. One of those little things Patrick seemed to do so well - instinctively and brilliantly know what gesture would work to elevate the mood of a room while carrying on a serious conversation. A paradox in the best way - simultaneously the most serious guy and most lighthearted guy I've ever known and also open, warm and reserved at the same time. Took "cool" up to a whole new level. Can't stop welling up. Huge loss.
