Obituary of Joseph C. Alfenito
ALFENITO-Joseph C., MD, 89, died peacefully surrounded by family on February 17, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Diana (nee Minervini) who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving children Dianne (Thomas) Hackney, Lisa (Craig) Monsen, Joseph (Pamela) Alfenito, and grandchildren, Kristen, Thomas J (Jess), Lauren, Alyssa, Craig-Bryant, Carly and Christopher. After attending NYU, he obtained his MD degree from New York Medical College and served as an Air Force Captain from 1951-53. A caring and devoted physician, he practiced at St. Vincent's Hospital, NYC for over 50 years before retiring at age 82. As an Internist/Cardiologist and expert in electrocardiography, he co-authored a book on vectorcardiography, contributed articles on cardiac care to medical journals and textbooks, and conducted postgraduate courses for the American College of Cardiology. He was honored for his dedication to his patients and his profession with the 1998 Angelus Award. He was loved by his family and patients, highly respected by his colleagues, and admired as a role model by many aspiring physicians. Visitation will be 4-8pm on Friday, February 22 at Fox Funeral Home, Larchmont, NY and funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
