Obituary of Virginia Genio

Virginia Genio passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024.

Beloved  mother of Marian and Donald. Loving wife of Dominic (predeceased). Dear sister of John Serricchio, Henrietta LaPonzina and Lydia Serricchio (all predeceased).

Born to Pasquale and Marianina Serricchio in the Bronx, New York, Virginia was the youngest of four children and had a loving family. As a child, she took dance and piano lessons and often entertained family and friends. People commented that her lovely, curly hair resembled that of Shirley Temple.

As teenagers, she and her sister enjoyed doing the Sunday “New York Times” crossword  puzzle on lazy Sunday afternoons. She continued that tradition through most of her life. She was adept at the Cryptoquote as well.

A devoted mother, she was always available to participate in class outings and school activities. She hosted birthday parties, and baked and decorated beautiful cakes. When entertaining, she served delicious meals and presented them beautifully.

Virginia was a lover of art, especially impressionism, and classical music. She passed those interests on to her children and often accompanied them to museums. She was a pet lover, and that love was returned by the family’s several cats and dogs.

She and her husband enjoyed travel and had many photographs from their trips, both here and abroad.  For years, she worked with him in his New Rochelle Pharmacy, Patterson Prescription Center. Their close relationship was inspirational.

She was a long time member of the Larchmont Shore Club and was a parishioner of Sts. John and Paul Church.

Virginia was admired and loved for her sweet, quiet nature. Her children adored her, and while they’ll  miss her, they are grateful for her long life.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday December 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY 10538. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her on Monday December 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sts. John & Paul Church 280 Weaver Street Larchmont NY 10538.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery 215 North Street Rye, NY 10580.
