Obituary of Irwin R. Cohen
Irwin Richard Cohen, son of the late Monroe Clarence and Jeanette Zilenchick Cohen, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 6, 2024. He was 91. He was born in Scranton, Penn., on September 28, 1933, and happily spent his youth involved with Temple Israel of Scranton and earning the distinction of Eagle Scout. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1955 and served in U.S. Army Intelligence from 1955-1977. He founded the Madison Avenue executive search firm Benson Personnel in 1969. In 1968, Irv married Sheila Tallen; they had two daughters. He was a life-long Boston Red Sox fan after following their Scranton Miners farm team when he was a boy. His enthusiasm for Penn State Football will live on in family lore for eternity. Irv is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila, his daughters, Allison Stahl (Kevin), Meredith Carroll (Rick) and six grandchildren: Jacob, Julia and Zoe Stahl; Quinton, Eleanor and Vivian Carroll, his brother, Herbert, and other dear family and friends. Donations in Irwin's memory may be made to Larchmont Temple.
A funeral service will be held at Larchmont Temple 75 Larchmont Ave Larchmont, NY 10538 on Monday December 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be 10:30 AM at Sharon Gardens Cemetery 273 Lakeview Av. Valhalla, NY 10595
