Dave was one of my closest friends in High School at Cherry Hill East. Reading this, I have no words and my heart is very heavy. I would have a very hard time imagining a kinder and more joyful person, let alone actually knowing one. Rest easy, buddy.

Dave and I went back to NJ Public TV, and continued our connection through the decades at CBS.
A high quality cameraman and an even superior friend. Loved music, sports, a hearty laugh, and most of all his family.
RIP, friend.

My condolences to the Cabano Family. I've worked at CBS for 35 years and I have had the pleasure of working with Dave on many occasions. Always willing to do his part and with a smile or a joke. I knew his love for horses and that was his pleasure. When he was present always displayed a positive mood. God bless you Dave, you made my job that much easier at CBS.

I first met Dave at WWAC in Atlantic City in 1981, when that closed he got a job at CBS in NY. He introduced me to horse racing and we enjoyed many days at the track. From Monmouth to Santa Anita to the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont - if I could make it - I was there. Every time I needed a place to stay, he opened up his house to me. I met up with the CBS crew at the 1992 Olympics in France, taught Tony to ski while everyone else was out enjoying the slopes. We had an absolute blast! When I had my twins in 1994 - he was the first to congratulate me and send the boys Cowboy outfits - he knew I hated the Cowboys - lol. I loved him for that. He always put a smile on my face and everyone he ever came across. Dave will be missed by so many people. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

I often think about how Dave talked to the folks at CBS This Morning about the my and Gigi's Oscar story and what a thrill it was to be a part of that. It was really sweet of him to think of us and I will always be grateful for that memory.

Dear Sheila and Catherine,
My deepest condolences to you and the rest of your family. Dave and I were hired one day apart in August of 1982. He was a wonderful, fun, funny and engaging guy and always real to the core. He expressed himself as he felt. Which was a great part of his charm. That twitter clip of him on his last day at CBS says it all. He was an absolute pro. Able to handle any assignment and always with a smile. A joy to work with. I’m glad to have known him.
I am heartbroken at his loss.

We loved Dave, our Saratoga neighbor and dear friend. The long COVID spring was a wonderful time of socially distanced pickleball (portable net courtesy of Dave) and outdoor get togethers. I will treasure the memory of his warmth, his humor, his laugh, and his Kentucky-Derby-winning dance!
