Obituary of Eileen M. Hughes

Eileen Hughes passed into God's loving hands on January 11 after a courageous battle against cancer. She was the cherished wife of James Hughes for forty seven years. Eileen was born April 5, 1943 in the Bronx, New York and grew up in the Country Club section of the Bronx. She was married on September 11, 1965. As a graduate of Cathedral High School and Hunter College, she instilled a lifelong value of education in her children, as well as a passion for reading. She was a wonderful, warm, and devoted wife and mother. As a loving presence, she tirelessly cared for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her love and character will serve as an example for her family forever. Eileen was survived by her husband James, her sons Kieran, Tim, and Chris, and her grandchildren Finbar, Bailey, and Bridget. She is also survived by her sisters Patricia and Eleanor and brother Edward. A funeral mass will be held… Donations in her memory can be made to Saint Francis of Assisi Breadline of New York, NY.
