Obituary of Roy Anthony Stewart

Roy Stewart, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 25, 2024, in New Rochelle, NY.

He was born on January 11, 1950, in Kingston, Jamaica.  Roy traveled to the United States, in 1956 with his mother, Pearline Sharpe and his brother Tyrone to find a new life with new opportunities.  Roy grew up in West Philadelphia and attended St. Thomas Moore High School where he was an altar boy, choir boy and All State Football player.  An exceptional athlete who had an educational vision and focus beyond his years. At an early age Roy knew the value of hard work and community service and he knew he wanted a life far better so instead of pursuing athletics at major universities, Roy focused on education.  He was the first in his family to go to college and one of the first Black Men to attend a University.  Roy earned a Bachelor's degree from LaSalle University and furthered his education by obtaining both a Masters of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University.  While attending Rutgers he was a member of the esteemed group BLSA (Black Law Students Association).  After graduating from college, Roy worked as an executive for PepsiCo in Purchase, NY, owned his own Advertising Agency and had expertise in licensing law.  While working, Roy also taught business school at Pace University, SUNY Purchase and Marist College.

Roy met his wife Pamela Stewart in grade school.  Married her at Our Mother of Sorrows church in Philadelphia.  He and Pam moved to White Plains and then Bedford, NY to raise their two children.  Roy was a loving father strong provider, who coached little league, basketball and football.  At his early age Roy loved Radio and Computer Science often being on the cutting edge of building Radios and understanding Computer Tech.  He also was an exceptional handy man who could build anything including expansion and improvements to their home. 

Roy is survived by Pamela Stewart (Wife) and his loving children Tamara Galloway (Corey) and Brandin Stewart (Nicole), as well as his cherished grandchildren Kendall, Jordan, Valentina, Jackson, Charlotte, Christian and Geoffrey.

A memorial service celebrating Roy's life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at:
