Obituary of Claudine Edwards
Claudine Edwards, 93, of Mahopac, NY, passed away on August 10, 2023 peacefully of natural causes. She was in the care of the amazing staff at Yorktown Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Claudine was born on July 20, 1930 to John and Claudine Quinn in Manhattan. Claudine graduated second in her class at Rye High School in 1948 before heading to University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. She left school to be a writer for the Daily News in New York City. She spent most of her career as a supervisor at Union Carbide in Tarrytown.
Claudine’s thirst for knowledge and to help others drove her to get a Masters degree and enter the counseling field. She was a substance abuse counselor and later a career counselor at Pearl River High School before becoming a published author.
She loved to write and wrote constantly until she could not write any longer. Her book “Marketing Yourself When You’re Shy” is acclaimed as a self help book. Her mother’s side of the family (Van Cott) provides rich history including being a Daughter of the American Revolution, descendants of Isaac Coutant. Also, the honorable William Van Cott, a prominent New York judge was the first President of the American Base Ball Players Association.
She was predeceased by Paul Edwards, to whom she loved and was married to, Paul passed away in July 2009.
She is survived by her five children: Mary Catherine Bailey, Michael Wolf, Kenneth Wolf, Margaret Wolf and Richard Wolf (Jeanne Wilson). She is also survived by four grandchildren: Michael Bailey, Matthew Wolf, Bryan Wolf and Stephen Wolf. She is also survived by her beloved James Dipelesi.
Services will be held at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont with visitation on Tuesday, August 15 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Funeral Services on Wednesday, August 16 at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest in the Coutant Cemetery in New Rochelle, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The United Way of Putnam Valley (https://www.uwwp.org/), an organization that Claudine cared deeply about.
