Obituary of Analinda Lorente
Analinda Lorente passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on May 26, 2023. She was 70 years old.
Born May 20,1953 in New York City to Louise and Jose Lorente, she was the oldest of their four children. She spent her early years on the Upper West Side of Manhattan before her family settled in Larchmont, NY where she would remain a lifetime resident.
Analinda attended St. Augustine’s School in Larchmont, NY, St. Gabriel’s High School in New Rochelle, NY, and the College of White Plains where she graduated in 1975. Growing up in a bilingual home, she became a master of both English and Spanish, ultimately majoring in Spanish in College.
Her career started her career as a Traffic Clerk for various companies, but she would find her calling later in life as a social worker, receiving her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in 2001. As a social worker she was able to use her language skills to help underserved Spanish communities and children of all ages. She worked at various community centers in New York City and Westchester County, retiring from the Mosholu Community Senior Center in July of 2021 after nearly 12 years.
Analinda married her longtime friend, Oscar Garcia, on May 31, 2014 in Larchmont, NY. They shared nine wonderful years together, enjoying all their local community offered. They were regulars in town and parishioners at St. Augustine’s Church where Analinda grew up attending and they were later married.
A lifetime member of the Manor Beach Club, Analinda could be found there throughout the summer enjoying a swim to the dock and spending her afternoons reading her latest book on the beach. An enthusiast of hats of all kinds, she was well known for sporting baseball caps and sun hats alike - and much to her sisters’ chagrin, they always suited her remarkably well.
A lover of music and food of all cultures and culinary styles, Analinda enjoyed numerous concerts and restaurants as often as she could with her husband and many friends. If social work was her calling, then dancing was her passion - famously dancing the bachata at her wedding to Stand By Me. And with her more playful side, she was known to dance through stores when her favorite songs would begin playing as she shopped.
Analinda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Oscar Garcia, by her siblings Lorraine Hannigan (Mike), Joseph Lorente and Pilar Lorente, her sister-in-law, Maria Garcia, and her nephew, nieces and many grand nephews and nieces.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY from 5:00-8:00pm and a funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Church in Larchmont, NY on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:00am.
