Obituary of Nils G. Osterberg

Nils Gustave Osterberg of White Plains, died on January 29, after a year-long struggle with lung cancer.

Nils was raised in Larchmont, son of Bill and Tove Osterberg and brother of Tove Osterberg and Kristin McElroy. He was the much-loved uncle of Nicholas, Sé, and Elsa McElroy. Nils graduated from Drew University and Fordham law school. He was a great lover of the outdoors and a terrific skier. In his younger days, he taught skiing to a variety of students, including the blind.

Nils will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, sly humor, and personal kindness. He continually devoted himself to helping and mentoring those whose difficulties he understood and shared.

Nils was loved by many and will be sorely missed. His family and friends will gather at the John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY 10538 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday February 9th to remember and celebrate his life.
