Obituary of Virginia M. Stuart

 

Virginia Marie McSweeney Stuart, age 74, died January 22, 2023. Born to Dr. John T. McSweeney and Virginia Mahony McSweeney, Ginny, as she was known, grew up in Scarsdale, NY, and spent most of her adult life in Bronxville, NY and Westhampton, NY. She attended the School of the Holy Child Rye, Marymount College, and later earned a Master's in Education. 

Ginny will be remembered for her love of the sun and beach, especially The Swordfish Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, NY, also for her avid reading and love of teaching, and sharing her anecdotes and memories from her high school years at her beloved Holy Child.

Ginny is predeceased by her parents, as well as her sister Kathleen Marie McSweeney, and niece Julia Ann Hunter. She is survived by her children, Leigh Stuart, Kathleen Stuart (Sean Gordon) and J. Mark Stuart, and grandchildren Brooke and Chloe, as well as her brothers, John (Bep) McSweeney, Reverend Father Brian McSweeney, Paul (Virginia) McSweeney, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving visitors Thursday, January 26, 2023, 4pm to 7pm, at John J. Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10am followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
