Frank Dominic Russo Jr. was born on July 31, 1936, in Bronx, New York, to Frank D. Russo Sr. and Phyllis Russo. Frank went to Pelham Memorial High School. He was the second of four children. Frank is survived by his older brother, Ronald Russo, and his younger sister, Joan Marie Bresnahan. He was predeceased by his younger sister, Phyllis Russo.
Frank served in the Air National Guard for nine years at Westchester County Airport. More than 70 years ago, he opened his first motorcycle repair shop, Motorcycles Unlimited, in a small garage in Mount Vernon, New York. He later purchased a dealership on Fordham Road in the Bronx, across from Fordham University, where he worked for 50 years. This location became the first Wheel Sport Center.
He subsequently opened a second Wheel Sport Center on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. Years later, Frank moved his business to New Rochelle, New York, and in 2010 relocated it to 399 Huguenot Street, where the dealership has remained for the past 16 years.
Frank is survived by his wife, Nancy Russo, whom he met at his shop on Fordham Road in the Bronx; his sons, Christopher Russo and his wife, Joanne, and Frank D. Russo III and his wife, Cesia; his daughter, Nancy Anne Russo; his grandchildren, Luciana and Cairo; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frank was loved by many and earned great respect throughout the motorcycle community. Over the years, his customers came to appreciate his fairness, honesty, and dedication.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
