Joan H. Evans Obituary

Joan Herington Evans, born on September 14, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, was the

daughter of Margaret and Cecil Herington, both deceased.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Suzy) Evans Cipriani and Laura

Evans-Harty, and their husbands, Guy Cipriani and Philip Harty. Joan was a

proud grandmother to Jack Cipriani, 21; Nicholas Cipriani, 14; twins Paul Harty17; and

Bridget Harty 17 her sole granddaughter. She was the beloved wife of Richard Evans

for 57 years.

Joan graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, in 1964, where she

found her happy place as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and formed many

good friendships that she maintained throughout the years.

After making her way back to New York, Joan began her career in the travel

industry. She later returned to work after raising her daughters in Larchmont, NY.

She was a top travel agent in New York City for many years at Protravel Inc. and

traveled the world, instilling in her family a love of travel and theater. She enjoyed

life with upbeat energy and infectious laughter.

She loved a good shoe sale, a good cocktail, and all of her beloved dogs, but

nothing made her prouder than her role as a mother and grandmother. She

showed great strength through all of life’s challenges and was fiercely

independent, qualities she instilled in both of her daughters.

The pillar of our family, she will be deeply missed.
