My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Joan and her family. She was truly a remarkable human, and an especially beautiful mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Always fun and outgoing, especially during my college and hometown visits with Suzy. Joan- you will be dearly missed and forever loved.

Right after one of the showings of the musical Grease that I was in. She had always been so supportive of my passions, and theater was always on the top of the list since she loved seeing shows. Miss you Grammy, and love you lots.

I met Joan when she lived in Crofton Maryland. We were neighbors and became fast friends through our mutual love of our dogs. I always hoped to run into her on my walks because every occasion with Joan was simply lovely. She was always upbeat, positive and sassy which I adored! I loved our breakfasts where we lingered over coffee and she’d share stories about her wonderful family and grandchildren whom she adored. I’ve missed her terribly since she moved and think about her every time I walk by her house. She will be so missed. God bless her and her beautiful family.

I shared a good part of your wedding sitting and talking with your mom. I remember her being very sweet and cordial. Good memories is what will always be present in family, friends, and acquaintances she touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I remember your wedding Suze, it was the first time that I met your parents. Your mom made it easy, so kind, such a beautiful sole. You and your sister are the living proof of a life well lived. Your mom will be missed, I hope your kids, my brother and you can take comfort in knowing we will all be together some day soon. I am so proud to call you my sister and I grieve with your family. I remember your mom as a giver of joy and love.

My dearest Joan and 2nd mom - you were an absolute gem and will be deeply missed by so many! Your smile lit up the room and your warmth and hospitality always made everyone feel at home and special. You always wanted to hear how I was, supported me and actually got me to laugh during one of my hardest times as a teenager. I could go on and on about how much we all loved your snack pantry and Freihoffer cupcakes! I loved sitting with you by the kitchen chatting and you always made me feel special. You had this natural wit and strength which is carried onward through your beloved Suzy and Laurie and grand children. I feel blessed to have had you as such an important part of my childhood and am so grateful to have fond memories forever. God bless you and the family - love you so much.

I will always remember Joan driving us to Chatsworth in the blue VW Bug. She always had a smile for the Chianese kids and was truly our second mom on Vanderburgh Ave. I can still hear her infectious laugh from my parents’ cocktail parties. We are all so blessed to have had Joan in our lives.

I met Joan in 1961 when she arrived at Rollins College. We instantly became friends and enjoyed our remaining years there together, living life to the fullest and sharing everything. After we graduated., we got married, had children, but continued to stay in touch throughout the years and once our children left home, we went on trips together with other Kappa alpha Theta friends and remained in touch, especially over the last 10 years. She was there for me when I got sick, and when my husband passed away. We remained extra special friends throughout our lives together and I will miss her terribly. Rest in peace, my sweet, sweet friend. I will always love you! Xoxo Gail

My gorgeous Mom,
I call her my Princess Diana.Mom is not only beautiful, she is a very loving soul.Mom loved me the same way as she loved her own children.Calling me often to check on me when I was at the low point of my life.
Mom always remembered me to pamper me on my birthday by sending lots of cards with her own hand written messages and treat me with chocolates I have kept the scarf which was send to me with care.Whenever I wear it I feel it is mom hugging me. I will miss her giving me kisses on the phone.
I know for sure she will always watch us and will be in our heart forever. I love you mom very much. I was lucky to experience your love and am very grateful to have had you in my life. Love you always mom.

I met Joan back in 1962 when she arrived at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She joined the same sorority that I was in, kappa Alpha Theta, and we became best friends from that moment on. She was such a wonderful friend and we never lost touch with one another from that moment on. Throughout our marriages, births of our children and grandchildren, we always stayed in touch and we were always there for each other. I will miss her more than words could ever convey. God bless you my beautiful friend. Thank you for always being there for me. You will never be forgotten ! ❤️ Gail Gunning

My dearest beautiful, strong and kind mother I will always cherish our last trip to Jamaica together. Your happy place. I find myself heartbroken and paralyzed with grief but I do believe you are enjoying that cocktail watching the Jamaican sunset. I will miss you everyday and so will my children and Guy. The pillar of our family. We are so lost without you. Love you mom now and forever.
