Alice Halpin Mulderrig, a longtime resident of Larchmont, passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital on Sunday, April 12. She was 103 years of age.

Alice was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is the youngest in an Irish Catholic family of nine brothers and sisters. Her parents, John and Mary, raised them in the Church, and Alice’s Faith was central to her long life. She and her late husband Bob were parishioners of Saints John and Paul Church in Larchmont. Together they served others as ministers to homebound parishioners, bringing Holy Communion to them on Sundays. When Bob passed away in 1995, Alice continued to do this, as she knew how important the Eucharist is to us, especially to those who cannot come to church.

Alice took to heart Jesus’ teaching:

“...about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary.” Luke 18:1

Alice prayed often. She carried on a constant dialogue with God. Until she was finally unable to drive to church in her late nineties, Alice would attend the 9 am Mass at Saints John and Paul every day. She prayed the rosary daily and had a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother.

Although she was a native Brooklyn girl, Alice was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. She would not miss a game on TV!

Alice is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert (Bob). and her brothers and sisters: Eugene, Joseph, Helen, Patricia, Mary, William, John and Thomas. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saints John and Paul Church on Thursday, April 16, at 11AM.
