John, John Sr., as I always addressed him and know him, IS one of the kindest, most intelligent and funniest people I have ever had the enormous pleasure to meet and know. His presence, gentleness and hilarious sense of humor and dry wit is something that warms my heart and tickles me endlessly now and forever. His laugh is something that is so memorable, unexpected and contagious at its first giggle.
John Sr., cares deeply about his family, loved Sandy so very much-inseparable, and had such pride for his boys and their beautiful families and grandchildren. Sandy and John Sr., have passed love, tremendous intellect and a level of caring and respect that is not only palpable but admirable as a parent. John Sr., and Sandy are united partners and teammates but are literally the kindest people I have ever met.
John Sr was passionate about sailing, the youth sailing program and passing on his love of the water and unmatchable feeling you receive from being on the water under power by nothing but wind and sail. Countless regattas were experienced with the stalwarts of the Weed family at LYC, drinking in the fun, excitement and fraternity of the simplicity of a boat, sail and wind (or not-meaning wind-more not!)
The Larchmont community, LYC, Westchester and world mourn this tremendous void left by a man who touched not only hearts but minds, aspirations and dreams. John Sr's love of his family and people were only matched by his love of dogs and animals. If there is a 21st Century pied piper, his name was John Sr. My labs loved him and Sandy dearly and were forever spoiled by their care, occasional snack:) and snuggles.
Worlds cannot properly express my love and care for this man and his loving family. He impacted me and my family in so many ways it is immeasurable. We love and hear him laughing, that incomparable, forever lasting laugh, which always followed a hilarious quip, statement, lightening fast response or flat out joke that makes me both laugh and cry at the same time.
Rest in peace Mr. Weed, John Sr., and may you be at the helm enjoying a perfect close haul with my Dad, right now! The McTague Family

John had a zest for life, family, sailing and friends!
I have fond memories of John on and off the water...
Dear Sandy and family, may you find comfort in your memories of John and in each other.
