Jacob C. Koshy

“I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live” - Ecclesiastes 3:12

Jacob C. Koshy (“Kunjumon”) was born on June 23, 1946, in Venmony, Kerala, India. He had five brothers and two sisters. After completing his high school education, Jacob joined the Indian Air Force. While on active duty, he married Mariamma (Ammini), and they moved to Chandigarh, India. Soon after, they had their two children (Jean and Jincy).   After completing his active service, he retired and returned home to Kerala.

After resettling, he followed his father’s footsteps and became an educator and became a high school teacher.  After teaching for one year at the high school, they immigrated to New York.  They have since settled in New Rochelle for over 35 years.

He worked tirelessly to help his family survive and then joined the MTA using his air force experience in electrical engineering. He enjoyed being a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking employee of the MTA. He worked his ranks and retired as a supervisor after more than 25 years of service.

Jacob was a dedicated family man who always cared and put his family first.  He was well-read and shared his passion for reading with his kids and grandkids. Jacob also enjoyed gardening with his wife and spent endless hours planting and replanting. He was also a loyal brother to his siblings.

We celebrate his life of love, kindness, peace, embracing nature, and thinking progressively. Jacob is loved and will always be remembered by his wife Mariamma (Ammini), children, Jean, Anies, Jincy, Benjamin, grandchildren, Jaiden, Joshua, Isabella, Jake, Katarina, and Jude. Siblings C. K.
