Nathaniel (Nat) Bowie Allan, a longtime resident of Larchmont, NY passed away on February 4, 2019. He was 88.
Nat was born on November 1, 1930 in Schenectady, NY to the late James and Annie (Knox) Allan. A graduate of Schenectady's Draper High School, class of 1947, at the age of 16, he went on to Union College where he received a BS in psychology in 1951.
He was drafted and served as a Captain in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After finishing his time in the Army, he met his future wife, Joy Humphrey, whom he married in 1958.
Nat enjoyed a successful career in advertising, spanning 30 years, at firms including Procter & Gamble, BBDO, Ted Bates and Co, Scali, McCabe, Sloves and Cunningham and Walsh, also serving on their Board of Directors. He retired from Lee Hecht Harrison in 2000.
He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Joyce Humphrey Allan, in 1975 as well as his longtime companion, Betsy Schenkel, in 2017. He is survived by his daughters Betsy (Tom) Schoenherr and Heather (Sal) Narciso. He was a beloved grandfather to his five adoring grandchildren, Lizzie and Katie Schoenherr and Jamie, Michael and Christopher Narciso.
As a Scotsman, Nat was an enthusiastic golfer, a tenor saxophonist in several bands, an avid gardener and enjoyed 38 years as a member of the Larchmont Shore Club, where so many special moments and celebrations took place. Always the gentleman, he was known for his quick wit, loyalty, charm and love for his family and friends, both near and far. He will be deeply missed.

Visiting will be Thursday February 21st from 11:00AM until 1:30PM with a service starting at 12 noon.
