Ben Dundee of Mamaroneck, NY died peacefully at the age of 96 on February 4, 2012. He was born on December 9, 1915 in London, England to Louis and Eva (Avitz) Dundee before moving to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx as a child. A graduate of the City College of New York in chemical engineering, he worked on the Manhattan Project and traveled the world designing and building chemical solvent recovery plants. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the things he loved most: classical music, literature, chess, tennis, swimming, and, above all else, festive occasions and spirited debates with family and friends. Ben is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eligia (Del Guercio Lorenti); step-daughter Eugenia Juliano, her husband Gerard, and their son Joseph; son David Dundee, his wife Betty, and his children Owen and Sara; step-son Richard Lorenti and his partner Andrew Flatt; brother-in-law Louis Del Guercio and his wife Paula; and many loving nieces and nephews and their children. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 11 at John. J. Fox Funeral Home at 2080 Boston Post Road in Larchmont.
